Health and Safety Case Study

BNS has worked in close partnership with our sister company, Priority 1, on providing a wide range of health and safety services for residential and commercial properties. This includes the vetting of contractors with a pre-qualifying procedure, insurance scrutiny and company checks, as well as provision of competent health and safety advice to both the organisation and its clients.

As a property group, we can carry out fire risk assessments and undertake regular reviews of the assessments to make note of any changes or additions which may alter the assessed level of risk. BNS also carries out annual risk assessments which aim to identify aspects of the property, or activities which present hazards to both residents and visitors.

Our involvement results in efficient, sincere, clear and cost-effective advice being given to ensure mandatory items are being recommended and undertaken, reducing the risk and duty of our clients.

BNS strongly believes in giving sensible advice in this regard to not only protect the users of the premises, but to also give the client clear differentiation on what you must undertake in accordance with law, as well as what is advised to be undertaken in accordance with guidance and best practice.

Furthermore, we arrange for surveys by highly qualified organisations to understand the risks from the presence of asbestos containing materials, and make assessments of the likely risks from legionella bacteria being present in water systems.

Our internal departments work as a team to arrange for statutory inspection and testing on safety critical aspects of the properties. This includes lightning protection systems, dry risers and fire extinguishers, along with any installed detection and warning systems, and carrying out prompt investigation into incidents and accidents including identifying and ensuing the implementation of any necessary remedial actions.

BNS has the facility to undertake and guide our clients on all aspects of health and safety in-house, ensuring compliance across our portfolio and sensible advice to prioritise necessary actions.

This has resulted in cost savings and greater standards of our premises giving peace of mind to all users.
